Russell Harvey McMillin, Jr.

Russell Harvey McMillin Jr., 87, of Lake Charles, LA passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 18, 2026.

Harvey was born on September 18, 1938 in Welsh, LA and lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He attended Welsh, LA schools and proudly served in the United States Air Force. He later founded McMillin Hearing Aid Service, building a successful business that he owned and operated for 34 years. Harvey was an honored Paul Harris Fellow and an active member of the Rotary Club, as he found great importance in commitment to service and community. In his younger days he delivered furniture and appliances for customers for the family-owned McMillin Furniture Company in Welsh. He was an active outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved hosting poker games, playing pool at Linda’s Lounge on Lake Street in Lake Charles and always wore a hat.

He will be most remembered for his ability to entertain and cook for his many friends and family.

He leaves to honor his memory, his wife of 30 years, Carol Sue Duhon McMillin; two children, Brian McMillin (Linda) and Pamela McMillin Hunter (Greg); stepdaughter, Kristi Thomas (Russell); grandchildren, Joshua McMillin, Jeremiah McMillin, Justin McMillin (Leah) Brittany Efantis (John), Darbi McMillin, Zackary Schexnider (Maddie), Draven Day, Leigh Rustom (Sam) and Bree Cain (Jeremy) and great grandchildren, Oliver McMillin, Ava McMillin, Nolan McMillin, Callan McMillin and Enzo Efantis.

Harvey was the fourth of six children. His brother David McMillin (Arnell) is also left to cherish his brother’s memory along with numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Harvey McMillin Sr. and Dorothy Dell Jones; his siblings Marjorie Thillman, Nancy Breaux, Harry McMillin and Bill McMillin and grandbaby, Kynli Miller.

Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort that Harvey is resting and healed from all earthly infirmities in the arms of Jesus whom he opened his heart to at the tender age of 11 years old at First Baptist Church in Welsh, Louisiana.
