Trevor Dare Mims, 33, passed away on January 27, 2026. Born on May 2, 1992, to Theresa Marie Edmonds and Lance Lee Mims, Trevor lived a life marked by faith, passion, discipline, and a wholehearted love for others.
To know Trevor was to encounter joy, conviction, and purpose. His life revolved first and foremost around his deep and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Trevor’s faith was not simply something he spoke about — it radiated from him. Being in his presence often felt like being drawn closer to Christ. With a cup of coffee in hand, he could sit for hours sharing his testimony, discussing scripture, and expressing just how great Jesus was. He believed fully in the promise that through Christ, all things are possible, and he instilled that truth into everyone he mentored.
At the foundation of Trevor’s life was his mother, Theresa — his rock, his steady support, and one of his greatest earthly blessings. Their bond was unbreakable. She was his constant source of strength, encouragement, and unconditional love through every season of life. Trevor carried deep respect and gratitude for his mother, often speaking of the sacrifices she made and the values she instilled in him. The perseverance, faith, and resilience that defined Trevor were reflections of the foundation she built for him. Their relationship was marked by loyalty, laughter, heartfelt conversations, and a profound mutual love that will endure forever.
Trevor was a devoted advocate and mentor to college-aged students and youth. He encouraged his students and athletes to pursue what their hearts truly desired and reminded them constantly that they could achieve greatness through Christ who gives strength. The impact he had on young lives is evident in the countless letters he received from students and athletes expressing gratitude, admiration, and love for “Coach Mims.”
Athletics were one of Trevor’s greatest callings. He was an exceptionally talented and passionate coach of both women’s and men’s track & field and cross country, leading teams all the way to State championships. He coached at Andrew’s Middle and High School (near Midland/Odessa), Clear Brook High School, Clear Springs High School, and Montgomery High School. Trevor was recognized as the youngest cross country head coach ever to coach at Clear Springs High School — an accomplishment that reflected his dedication, leadership, and natural gift for inspiring excellence. He lived by a motto he hoped one day to trademark: “Train the Spirit before the Flesh.” To Trevor, strength began within.
To say Trevor loved running is an understatement. His eyes would light up whether he was lacing up his shoes for a race or watching one on television. He competed in numerous running events across Texas, with one of his proudest achievements being the Houston Marathon — a moment that represented his perseverance, grit, and heart. His love for track & field extended beyond participation; he followed Olympic races closely and could recite his favorite runners’ times from memory.
Trevor was also a true sports aficionado. College football was sacred to him, and he was a devoted fan of the LSU Tigers in all sports — most notably their football program, women’s basketball, and women’s track & field. Fall Saturdays were filled with nonstop sports, spirited commentary, and unwavering loyalty to purple and gold.
Outside the stadium and track, Trevor found peace and exhilaration in the mountains, especially in Taos, New Mexico. He loved skiing some of the most beautiful and challenging terrains in Taos and throughout Colorado. Fearless and naturally gifted, Trevor excelled at anything he set his mind to.
He also found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Trevor loved discovering new coffee shops and trying new drinks — often finding one he loved and drinking it faithfully every day thereafter. In the kitchen, he cooked like a master chef, perfecting his mother’s recipes and teaching his little sister how to cook with patience and pride. For Trevor, cooking was another expression of love.
Trevor is survived by his grandmother, Wanda Gay McGraw, his mother, Theresa Marie Edmonds, and his beloved sister, Tyler Paige Mims. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Kenneth Morgan Mims and his father, Lance Lee Mims.
Though his time here was far too short, Trevor Dare Mims lived fully, faithfully, and fiercely. His legacy runs on in every athlete he trained, every student he mentored, every mountain he conquered, and every life he led closer to Christ. His spirit, strength, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
